The brand
30 years ago the denim market was dominated by five-pocket jeans, with thrift stores the only place to seek out unique styles. Canadian Allan Kemp, aged 21 at the time, set out to banish the blandness.
Allan started out by deconstructing two pairs of straight-leg Lee Rider jeans to create a single pair of high-rise, wide-bottomed, baggy jeans. Pleased with his work, he sought out apprenticeships with denim experts to learn more.
Allan went on to set up a partnership with Western Glove Works, the manufacturer of his own denim brand1921.
The collection
Timeless denim for men and women that fits the natural contours of the body. Each 1921 jean is cut by hand and treated and washed to give the denim an authentic vintage look.
