The brand
Husband-and-wife team Dan Dower and Diane Hall met at Middlesex University where they were both studying jewellery design. The pair moved to London after graduating, with Dan working on his own bespoke commissions and Diane working as a jewellery designer for various labels, including iconic London department store Liberty.
In 1990, the pair set up Dower & Hall with a little help from The Princes’ Trust. Since then the brand has grown from strength to strength and has a reputation for quality silver designs that become treasured favourites. As well as selling its jewellery to shops throughout the UK, Dower & Hall has its own standalone stores in London’s Spitalfields, Glasgow, Bluewater shopping centre in Kent and a concession in Liberty.
All of Dower & Hall’s jewellery is crafted at its studios in London by its team of expert jewellers. And while the London team are busy creating, Dan and Diane travel the world seeking out inspiration for Dower & Hall’s three collections a year.
The collection
There are two recurring themes in Dower & Hall collections: sculptural curved forms and feminine accents in the form of pretty beading, engraved detailing and emotive messages. While the brand is famous for its silver collections, it also crafts jewellery in gold, platinum and newly hallmarked precious metal palladium, which has similar properties to platinum but is lighter and less expensive. The brand also has a luscious range of freshwater pearl jewellery and incorporates precious stones into many of its designs.
