The brand

Marc Jacobs was a New York fashion school boy wonder in the 1980s, picking up accolades wherever he went. After graduating, Marc designed his first Marc Jacobs collection and the praise continued with Marc becoming the youngest designer to win The Council of Fashion Designers of America Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent.

Taking advantage of the hype, Marc and his business partner Robert Duffy joined fashion designer Perry Ellis before launching licensing and design company Marc Jacobs International in 1993. In 1997, Marc was appointed creative director of Louis Vuitton, a position he still holds today.

In 2001 another string was added to Marc’s bow as models bounced onto the catwalk wearing Marc by Marc Jacobs, the designer’s more accessible diffusion line, for the very first time.
