The brand

Founded in 1948 in Germany, Puma quickly established links with the leading athletes of the day - from Olympic sprinters to football players - to establish itself as a leader in the sports community. Puma still has close links with sports, and world cups have been won and world records have been broken in its technically advanced athletic shoes.

Puma has proved itself a pioneer in the sports market. Its achievements include developing football boots with screw-in studs in the 1940s and becoming the first manufacturer to create sports shoes with Velcro fastenings, plus the brand’s own Duoflex soles, Trinomic sports shoe system and Inspector growth monitoring shoes for children.

As well as excellence in sports, Puma has also strived to establish itself in the fashion world with the launch of fashion trainers, apparel, accessories, eyewear and perfumes. It has recently collaborated with revered British fashion designer Alexander McQueen on a collection of clothing and footwear.
