Stylist and costume designer, Vanessa Doger recounts stories and shows us her world filled with varied emotions through unique hand-painted pieces.
Coal: "Giving substance to shadows, giving substance ever more"
Most inspirational icon?
Camille Claudel.
Perfect wardrobe
Late nineteenth century, early twentieth century, a wardrobe imbued with New Art and a touch of chic decadence.
My career so far
Vanessa learnt design, creation and production of made-to-measure clothes and costumes at the Ateliers Butsch.
This young designer sets out to make only unique pieces. She works mainly for music artists: Maelis, Olivier Coursier (AaRON), Smoking-Smoking... She is always working closely with them and she favours the constant exchange between their desires and know-how.
To complete this rich textile training, she has also studied at the school Duperré in the design workshop "Illustration and Narration" which allowed her to refine her graphic and pictorial skills. Precisely, that is what created the collection "Coal", allowing her to assert the particularity of her world.
Her inspirations are varied, but music, literature and sculpture are maybe her first inspirations. Hence a kind of need to give (a) shape to words, thoughts, emotions, impalpable things. On leaving the design workshop, dresses, t-shirts or tops are embellished with figurative track, oneiric stamp, definitive sketches, unfinished charcoals.
