A survey of 2,000 UK adults highlighted that people who spend more time outside are more productive, energetic, and positive than those who do not. Those who spend more time in green areas or natural spaces are 41% more productive than those who spend less than 30 minutes a week outdoors. The study also revealed that time spent in nature gives people a boost of happiness that keeps them going all day. Getting outdoors improves your overall health!

Not the sporty type? Being outside and just experiencing nature can improve your mental health and increase your ability to focus. Many of us spend too much time in front of screens and not enough time outside experiencing the natural world.

Doing activities outside like gardening, taking your dog for a walk or visiting naturally beautiful areas can reduce feelings of stress and encourage your mind to relax. Setting time aside to practise one of these outdoor activities daily creates a sense of routine and purpose. If you’re struggling to stay consistent, keep an activity diary or ask someone to join you. Spending time with your pets outdoors can help ease your anxiety and boost your self-confidence. If you’re someone who feels isolated and misunderstood, pets tend to be great listeners and provide great companionship. If getting a pet seems unrealistic, visit a local farm or buy bird feeders for your local space.
