It’s hard to believe we’re already in November, however as we face the latter end of the year, and undoubtedly a December filled with social plans (and some serious indulgence), how about passing November by with some soul-feeding culture? You can count on the capital city to have a range of fascinating must-see events on at any time, but with so much on offer, it can be hard to pinpoint just one or two key exhibitions in London. Here are the top five picks at the top of our wish list this month.

Hampton Court Palace, Standing With Giants

3rd-28th November 2021

Commemorate the fallen and heroic soldiers from the First World War throughout November (Remembrance Day is November 11th) at this one-month only installation at Hampton Court Palace, entitled Standing With Giants. Located in the East Front gardens, it features 100 almost life-size soldier silhouettes, displayed alongside screen-printed poppy wreaths. It’s a moving display, which, uniquely to Hampton Court Palace will have an additional 25 specially commissioned soldiers to represent the Indian soldiers which also took residence at the estate.

V&A Museum, Alice: Curiouser and Curiouser

You can always count on the Victoria and Albert Museum in Kensington to put on a vibrant, show stopping exhibition, and its Alice in Wonderland offering is no exception. Exploring how the infamous tale of Alice has been reinvented and reimagined over the 157 years since it was published, you’ll see images, props and costumes over a range of themes in this immersive, theatrical show. You’ll have to act fast, though – the exhibition closes at the end of the year and tickets are selling out.

Design Museum, Waste Age: What Can Design Do?

It’s important we all educate on the climate crisis we’re currently experiencing, and this educational, thought-provoking exhibition at the Design Museum allows us to garner an informed perspective. Covering themes across fashion, food, electronics and construction, discover how designers are creatively reinventing our relationship with waste – and making circular statements. This must-see exhibition includes examples from Stella McCartney, The Ellen Macarthur Foundation and plenty of others.

Masterpieces from Buckingham Palace

Whether you’re a royalist or not, you won’t want to miss this rare opportunity to see some of the most famous paintings from the Royal Collection at this exhibition located in Buckingham Palace (and included in the price of your ticket). With four and five star reviews, you’ll be fortunate enough to see artwork from some of the greatest in the world, including Rembrandt, Rubens and other historic icon. Tate Modern, Lubaina Himid

From 25th November 2021

Whilst this exhibition doesn’t start until the latter end of the month, we can assure you it’s well worth the wait. Located at the iconic Tate Modern Gallery, don’t miss this Turner prize-winning artists theatrical exhibition. Showcasing both recent work as well as memorable pieces from her past, Himid is most famous for her contributions to the Black British Art movements, recognising Black experience and creativity. A highly acclaimed artist with unique taste – make time for this one in your busy social calendar.
