Miss Mandalay: Guest blogger review

If you’re in the market for some beautifully cut, wonderfully made, quality and expertly fitted lingerie in full bust sizes, look no further than Miss Mandalay. Guest blogger, Cheryl, from Invest in Your Chest, talks us through a couple of her favourite pieces.

Creating stunning lingerie and swimwear for both every day and the bedroom in sizes C-HH, the brand are the experts in creating perfectly-fitting lingerie which not only looks good, but fits and feels even better.

Miss Mandalay is a brand that doesn’t ‘shout’ very loudly in the world of lingerie; instead, it maintains a classic, understated approach. I get the distinct impression that their philosophy is more about creating quality, beautiful bras rather than competing in the numbers game of the full bust bra world. Their bras are often quite plain, but avoid being boring and conventional with pretty, delicate colour-ways. This design magic is interwoven with quality materials, which are paired perfectly with a wonderful fit.

Two of their sets, which I own and love are available to buy in the BrandAlley sale right now – these are the Paige and Gigi sets. I have these glorious bras (with the matching co-ordinates, of course) in the beautiful coral and hot pink shades respectively.

Coral Paige braCoral paige briefsThe Paige bra takes pride of place as one of my very favourites in my lingerie drawer, and is a perfect example of how everyday lingerie needn’t be dull. The practical and comfortable balcony-plunge shape is great for everyday wear, as it offers full support to the bust and is one of the most universally comfortable styles. Prettiness is still paramount, however, as the subtle-yet-vibrant coral shade really zings against my pale skin, and the skirted thong brief adds an extra playful touch. I have to admit that I don’t always wear the co-ordinates with this set, instead pairing the bra with more conservative coral knickers which I picked up at a high street store, but I’m 100% glad to have the matching set for special occasions or days I want to dress up a bit more and feel fabulous! I recall wearing this set in summer with a pretty dress and feeling great just knowing that what I had on underneath was so pretty.

Not only is it a sight for sore eyes, the Paige bra also fits beautifully well. Giving a very natural yet uplifted teardrop shape, the sheer mesh cups look delicate and beautiful but they also hold your boobs in place firmly and without a bounce in sight. The relatively narrow wires beautifully encase the breast tissue, and the sides of the cups are just high enough to offer great support for the sides of the bust without interfering with the armpit at all. Just a great fit and a fabulous shape.

Gigi is quite a different kettle of fish to the Paige, with a hot pink base, leopard print bow detailing, flamboyant frills galore and a sexy, true balconette shape. The aim here isn’t to look great under a t-shirt or keep you in place whilst running for a bus, but Gigi keeps my boobs supported and in place all day long when I wear her in the office or on the dancefloor. She’s a perfect option to wear under a party dress as you can’t help but feel special in this set, but you’ll also see the benefits of a wonderful fit and comfortable, lightly foam-lined cups to enhance shape. The cups are expertly put together and I’ve never seen a ruffle or a seam squiffy or out of place in all the months I’ve owned my Gigi. Definitely not just a pretty face.

All of these wonderful things that come hand in hand with a set from Miss Mandalay aren’t necessarily cheap, with the average bra retailing in the £40 region, but in a world where so many lingerie styles just don’t quite fit right or fall apart at simply the thought of a gentle hand wash, you’re paying for quality. With so many styles reduced in the BrandAlley sale, why not ease yourself into the world of designer lingerie at a fraction of the cost?
