Movies to Make You Feel Good

At this time of year, we could all do with a little pick-me-up.

Whether it’s a fresh manicure, a yummy takeaway or a trip to Westfield for some retail therapy, it’s important to fight the January Blues with something that makes you smile. For our Marketing Team, that’s their go-to comfort film. And if you’re in need of some feel-good film-spiration, we asked them for their favourites below. Look out for laugh-out-loud comedies, tear-jerking romances and everything in-between.

Before Sunrise

Livia Carey, Marketing Manager

“This film always inspires me and reminds me of the beauty of human connection, not only for the storyline, the cinematography, inimitable acting and chemistry between the characters Jesse and Celine, but also for the magic cityscapes of Vienna in the summer that act as their own veritable character within the film. It reminds me of youth and farflung European adventures. Filmed by Richard Linklater, this film touched so many round the world, that nine years later ‘Before Sunset’ was released, and another nine years later, ‘Before Midnight’, to extraordinary fanfare. A true cult film, they don’t make them like these anymore!”

Just Go With It

Hannah Wright, Content Executive

“My all-time favourite movie to watch when I’m feeling a little glum is Just Go With It. I always recommend an Adam Sandler film to my friends when they need a laugh, and this one has me in stitches. The film follows Jennifer Aniston posing as Adam Sandler’s wife on a trip to Hawaii – and the little ones that play her children are just absolutely hilarious. A great watch when you’re in need of some silliness.”

Sony Pictures

The Proposal

Brooke Ramsey, Social Media Executive

“The Proposal with Sandra Bullock & Ryan Reynolds is my ultimate feel good movie! It’s so easy going and there so much in this movie that cheers me up when I’m feeling down. Comedy and romance – what’s not to love?!”

The Breakfast Club

Michelle Hurney, Head of Marketing

“Definitely The Breakfast Club. Directed by John Hughes (legend), this film is layered and thoughtful with how teenage angst is comically portrayed. Makes me simultaneously wish I was a teenager again, but also so very glad that I’m not going through that sort of existential crisis again!!!! This film just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy – and the soundtrack is fire.

Grown Ups

Ellie Brown, Influencer Assistant

“Similarly to Hannah, I love an Adam Sandler film! My feel good movie is definitely Grown Ups – it never fails to make me laugh and bring me up when I’m feeling down. I probably know the script off by heart now!”

Step Brothers

Celine Holdhus Mäntynen, Influencer Executive

“My best friend and I always watch Step Brothers if we need a dose of silliness, it always makes us laugh! It follows two lazy middle aged men who still live at home and become step brothers against their will. It’s the perfect watch with your friends to put you in a good mood!”
