Diana: Glimpses of a modern princess

Today’s the last day of Kensington Palace’s chic little display of dresses worn by Diana, the Princess of Wales. From her famous black strapless evening gown by Emanuel to a shocking pink Catherine Walker gown, Diana’s famous outfits are shown alongside fashion illustrations and photos reflecting important and memorable fashion moments in her public life.  Well worth a look!

Natural History Museum Ice Rink

One of London’s favourite winter attractions opened on Friday. So, get your skates on and start the festive season early at the Natural History Museum’s spectacular, outdoor ice rink. As well as the main 950-square-metre rink, there’s a smaller one for kids plus a rinkside fairground carousel. If you’re there after dark, you can enjoy all the twinkling fairy lights on the surrounding trees, which add a really Christmassy feel. And make sure you grab a hot chocolate or mulled wine from the balcony café overlooking the ice and drink in the magical scene.

Christmas Craft Fairs around the UK

One of the lovely things about the build-up to the festive season is all the gorgeous Christmas craft fairs around the country. There are loads on today, including the We Make London Chelsea Christmas Fair as featured on the Londonist website, the Crafts for Christmas event at The Kent Pavilions run by the Rural Crafts Association, plus a fabulous selection on the Craft & Design website.

Homemade mulled wine

Whether you’re celebrating Bonfire Night with friends tonight or watching your local public firework display later, why not get the party started with homemade mulled wine? Here’s an easy recipe on BBC Food, which only takes around 40 minutes to make and is brimming with Christmas spices and a kick of sloe gin. Cheers!
