Update from the blogosphere #95 – fireworks night inspiration

We’re already in November – can you believe it? This year seems to have gone quicker than the last, but will probably be slower than next year. That’s a scary thought! But we’re not wishing our life away. Here at BrandAlley HQ we’re excited it’s November – this weekend it’s Fireworks Night!  Just like Halloween, we’re taken back to our youth of sparklers, bonfires and of course hot chocolate and marshmallows watching the colourful lights in the sky. Scouring the blogosphere we were excited to see the creative types blogging about all the amazing things you can do with your kids (or on your own – some of them are fab!), so we’ve got a round-up of all the best to give you a little inspiration this bonfire night.

If you’re throwing a bonfire themed party this weekend, Motivating Mum blogspot has some great ideas. From colourful cocktails (non-alcoholic) with bright straws and glitter palms (see picture below, who knew they had a name!?) to sparkly invitations and decorations, Motivating Mum blogspot has everything you need. The toffee apple dunked in chocolate covered in popcorn looked amazing, just a little unsure as to how you would eat this! We found another mouth-watering recipe for chocolate coated apples on Bath Knight blog and they look delicious. They’ve inspired us to add a layer of roasted nuts or crushed smarties to the ones we’re trying – yum!

Speaking of cocktails, have you ever been to a bar that has sparklers in the drinks? It’s always OTT but you can’t help but stare and get excited playing with the sparklers. So we thought it was a great idea to do at home and We Are Not Martha blogspot has come up with a fruity bonfire night inspired drink. Find the recipe for a Cranberry Pomegranate Sparkler here and remember to add a bit of sparkle with some special drink sparklers to avoid injury but really have some pizazz.

But it’s not all food and drink. Play eat laugh sleep blog has blogged about bonfire night and how to make the perfect bonfire, but what we loved was the home-made paper lanterns. Just bamboo, tape, paper, foil and a candle and hey presto! – you’ve got yourself a night lantern which can light the night sky. Find out more here.

Of course it’s important to be careful on bonfire night as there are lots of dangers, especially with young children. For safety tips head to The Real Supermum blog.

We hope you have a fantastic fireworks night this weekend and see lots of gorgeous displays. Time Out London has lots of great ideas for where you can see the very best shows  so check it out here.

Have a great weekend!
