Under it All: Lingerie Relaunch

Are you one of the millions of women wearing the wrong bra? We’re not just talking about sizing here (though some studies predict up to 90% of us have got that all wrong).

We’re talking about the feeling you get when you put one on. If you experience anything less than delight and delicious comfort, your underwear drawer might be in need of a reboot.

To coincide with the Victoria and Albert Museum’s new exhibition Undressed, we are relaunching our entire lingerie department, and thereby giving you the perfect excuse to reinvent. For one day only (May 25th 2016), our site will be so chock full of delightful underthings – from size A to KK – that you won’t know where to shop first.

To celebrate this new wave of undergarment adoration, we sat down with Clare: Senior Lingerie Buyer and the lady behind the launch. Having worked in lingerie buying all of her working life, Clare is an expert from whom we could all learn a thing or two. Find her layman’s guide to the humble bra below, and read to the end to find out her top tips.

The T-Shirt Bra

Tight-fitting dresses and basic T-shirts call for a bra that has smooth lines so as to ensure discretion and comfort. The selection of T-shirt bras on the site are all hand-selected by Clare, our passionate and savvy Buyer.

The Soft Cup Bra

The stylish option, soft cup bras are made to be seen peeking from beneath a camisole or v neck tee. Though comfortable and cool, this style is better suited to those with a chest smaller than a DD.

The Lace Plunge Bra

For shape and support, the lace plunge is great for adding cleavage by the most beautiful means. It is also a wonderful choice for women aware of sagging. The right set of underwear can make you feel oh so sexy from the inside out.

The Underwire Bra

A staple for any wardrobe, underwire bras are an every day essential: DD+ ladies should look out for a 3 piece cup bra for exceptional support. Remember: the right support is essential for breast care!

 Why Get Fitted?

Visiting a fitter is of the utmost importance. Having fitted customers herself, Clare is only too aware of the telltale signs that show when a bra is not sitting as it should do. Do your straps slip down off your shoulders? Does the back of your bra ride up? Does the top cup gape? Does your bust spill over the top? If any of these occur when you pull on your bra in the morning, you are in certain need of fitting.
