Autumn Wedding Outfits: What to Wear

Now weddings are back on the scene, you’ve most likely been inundated with invitations. Whilst we’re seriously excited about once again having the opportunity to get dressed up, looking for autumn wedding outfits can be difficult. It raises questions like – what if it rains? What if the venue is freezing? Do I take a coat?

Fortunately, there are plenty of solutions and a few clever wardrobe decisions (read: long sleeves) to keep you looking fabulous on the big day, from trans seasonal florals to sleek and silky numbers.

Print Power

Autumn dressing doesn’t have to mean dark hues – add a pop of colour or a bold, chic animal print to the wedding party with a carefully considered midi dress. Vertical stripes offer a classic but flattering ensemble while spots or larger prints can be easily accessorised for the full effect. Pair your new dress with some simple finishing touches in the form of a statement headband or a black clutch.

Slip on silk

It doesn’t get chicer than a silk dress. Fluid, feminine silhouettes are incredibly on-trend and forever stylish, so make an impact with long hems and full-length sleeves. For added comfort, style with a dance-friendly pair of shoes such as a mule or low heel. For an alternative to pure silk which can be costly, crepe de Chine or satin looks just as good.

The little black dress

We know that a black dress will forever be a go-to (and a sound investment). Be it the Princess Diana revenge dress or something equally as iconic, the LBD is always a smart investment. Keep it straight and fitted, or look to a skater style dress if you’re in search of something more modest – of course, check with the bride if she minds you wearing the shade, as more superstitious types may prefer you not to.

Flower power

Florals aren’t just for spring. During the colder months, opt for darker colours in your autumn wedding outfits, like green, navy and blue. Choose separates that are full length and dresses with long sleeves, perfect for layering and keeping you warm. For the ultimate autumnal ensemble, we suggest pairing your floral piece alongside a pair of high heeled boots, or perhaps you’d prefer to pair it with a pair of courts or sandals? Whatever your aesthetic – we’ll let you decide.
