Sand to suit every preference…
Although the UK may not be considered the best place in the world for beaches, there are certainly a few hidden gems and picturesque coves across the country. As the weather gets warmer, escape to paradise to find some secret sandy spots and clear crystal waters.
From pebbly coastlines to sandy shores, discover your home away from home among our round-up of the best UK beaches.
Camber Sands, East Sussex
Camber Sands boasts miles of unspoilt sand dunes and rolling hill views. One of the purest and longest dune systems on the South Coast and the only beach in East Sussex where you’ll find golden sand instead of pebbles and shingles. The Arabian-looking beach has made numerous desert film locations.
Go beyond the beach and explore the ancient town of Rye for traditional pubs, rickety old houses and cobbled streets.
Durdle Door, Dorset
Want peace in paradise? Then Durdle Door is the place to be, even on the hottest of days and in the heights of summer the coast doesn’t get too overcrowded. Bring your comfortable shoes as you’ll need to climb down several hundred steps to get to the limestone arch and the crystal clear waters.
Kynance Cove, Cornwall
One of Cornwall’s most popular and Instagrammable beaches, Kynance Cove. Its almost Mediterranean turquoise waters, rock stacks and fine white sand make it feel totally out of place in the UK. A tidal beach for the adventurous.
BrandAlley Tip: Arrive for sunrise instead of sunset as the beach gets extremely busy throughout July, August and September.
Three Cliffs Bay, Wales
Explore one of the most beautiful shorelines, Three Cliffs Bay. The shoreline is relatively quiet all year round due to the dunes making a challenging walk but it’s most definitely worth the hike. Think: horseback riders galloping across the sand, sunrise hikes and fantastical feels from Pennard Castle.
Brighton Beach
Talk about seafront nostalgia. Brighton beach offers some of the most memorable and fun activities that you enjoyed about the seaside as a child. Think: merry-go-rounds, ice cream cones, chip shops, blue skies and pebble art. The best part? They’re just as enjoyable now.
