Banana Republic is the contemporary apparel label for the modern and refined woman.Started by Mel and Patricia Ziegler, an artist and writer respectively, Banana Republic wanted to produce a brand that was about originality and freedom of expression. In 1978 the first Banana Republic store opened opposite the Golden Gate Bridge, intended as a place for the travel lover to buy their expedition wear.

After Gap took over Banana Republic in 1983, their demographic audience expanded enormously. The Banana Republic womenswear collection stocks a mix of classic and versatile, a must have in every style conscious woman's wardrobe.
